Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actress and singer. Her first Broadway roles, she played the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The role she played in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her professional career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford is set to next appear alongside Kumail in Robert Siegel's exclusive Hulu series Welcome to Chippendales which premieres the 22nd of November. Ashford is currently working on the film of Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. The film will be aired on Disney DTC as a Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who produced Hamilton, will direct the show. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the national crisis that swept across the country. Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment trial in more than a century. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS popular comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde are amongst her additional Broadway performances. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and currently splits the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
